and now, mambo #5
ok, not really. I just realized I haven't updated in a bit. Why? well, I've been busy. Busy, um, doing my hair.
Seriously though- I have been busy. I'm now an assistant coach for the boys lacrosse team at school. That is comical- why you ask? Mainly my only experience with lacrosse is I can spell it. I've picked up a bit of the game though, it's starting to come to me. I bought a pretty cheap stick last sat and I've been practicing on my own. Passing is still a little off, but I can catch just about everything, my kids are actually impressed about that part. Hurt my knee somehow first day of try-outs, how? I don't have a fucking clue. I just stood there in the cold. it still hurts, but at least I can move it and it's not as swollen. Due to the increase in my schedule nad the knee pain, I haven't been to the gym since lacrosse started, which irks me, so I have to get that shit going again.
we had a scrimmage today, varsity looks pretty good, some rought spots, but I think we can iron it out. Unfortunately I had to leave before I could see JV- those are more my kids, I've been "coaching" them this past week because the other, read "real", assistant was on vacation.
This is definately a sport I could have gotten into if they offered it at my school- my entire school population was the size of about one class of the school I teach at.
This also isn't just some altruistic, "I feel like learning something new and making a difference" things either- I figure this is a good way to get my name out there and it'll look great on my resume. ESPECIALLY since it's basically a volunteer position. that's right, I've added at least 2 hrs a day more work for myself and I'm not getting paid- hell, I had to do something to fill up my free time- I'm used to working 2 full time jobs after-all.
upcoming shit- EVO school, fuck YEA!!
Wicked Big Meet
oh, and I might end up teaching one or two summer seminars- maybe econ or psych. which is cool, once again, great on the resume plus each offers a stiped of about $1500 for about 5 weeks of work.
