So over the past 6 months I've been being fitted for a new false leg, with a brand new team in a different hospital. And I've well and truly been blown away with how amazing the outcome has been this time.
Last year I was told I'll never be able to walk without AIDS/crutches, and didn't think for a while I could change that. However I came through the other side eventually very positive and determined to push myself in case there may still be a chance. And if not then atleast I'd tried!
I joined a gym to start building the muscle in my leg, doing pyhsio weekly. And working with the team at the prosthetics center to create something that not only I could walk on but that also keeps my hip in one place without causing too much pain or swinging. (in the past this has been hard to achieve as I have a floating hip on this side, no socket or ball joint) I received my leg this week after, my casting, my first "glass socket" fitting, and final changes fitting, and I can honestly say I'm so looking forward to my future, the same day I was able to walk on a treadmill (still using one arm to hold onto something) for the first time, and although I have so much muscle to build, it's going to be a fun journey! 💞
I thought I'd share with you my journey throughout and finally getting it ☺️💖
I chose a beautiful floral socket this time and it is a perfect fit! 😍💞
