Heart....
They're @ The Orpheum tomorrow. And, I'm show crew for Heart... Setting up the show & running spot.
I'm always amazed when great old bands are still together. When I heard them in the 80's they were a slightly older prog metal band that my friends cool MILFY mom's listened to on CFOX when I was in the last stages of elementary school. in the early 80's ( The scary - sexy older smoking crowd, metal queens were into in them in high-school in the mid 80's. ) In the video below, they'd shaken they're 70's Lord of the rings Gypsy - Hippy look ( sort of ABBA gone to seed - check out the bass players S/M top-hilarious really ) and gone hair metal. It obviously worked for them because they were huge for a while after Friday night Videos showed up on CBC.
And really, - I was there in the 8o's - it was only girls that could carry this look off. Guys with teased hair looked like poodles with rabies.
And they're still out there. But, not like say, The Who or The Rolling Stones... who have sort of transcended their history and become sort of a parody of themselves ( I see Green Day heading in that direction if they keep up with the "concept" albums and musical adaptations of they're work .) Heart? They're just plugging along. A working band. Pushing CD's an entertaining the classic fan base. ( good on them...)
The only things I remember about Heart was they were from Vancouver but seemed like they were from Seattle, as theyre song was so American. They played here a lot in the 80's.
And, of course the lead guitarist. She, was super metal poster girl hot with great, long flaming red hair ( a personal 'thing' for me ever since a crush on a 4 grade teacher - Who I remember had the classic, "Iron Butterfly" Heart Album / poster in her classroom ) and she did all the Lita ford rock chick poses, in a lace bustier, skinny jeans, fuck me boots and all.**** Just as well as Lita - who I always thought strangely - was kind of skanky. And, better than anyone else - Lee Arron I'm thinking of you.
Thinking about it she's probably around the same age as the aforementioned, ginger haired 4th grade teacher. I wonder if they're both still hot ( the Heart Guitarist and my 4th grade teacher. ) When I was in college I went back to my elementary school to say hello to Mrs Strudwick. She was the principal by that time... and she was still a babe. And, in my 20's I towered over her... which made her petite... and even more super shag-able.
I'm expecting a serious MILF rock moment tomorrow night... It's nice to think and see that women age gracefully and continue in the hotness... even if I don't have the most graceful thoughts of them.
Even today I still think of my 4 grade teacher. I named my red Gibson SG after her...
Althea.. What an awesome name for a redhead.
**** Not the teacher, the lead guitarist.
