Right On The Cusp....
The Worst thing about being the dispatcher is.... I can't smoke Pot.
Seriously the last time I tried I got all Paranoid that I'd missed a gig didn't dispatch a particular crew or that the person I'd sent to do exact thing that would royally F&*^K up and I'd end up holding the bag...
Other than the rare sleepy summer weekend I've been straight ever since....The few Chronic guys I do call for shows have no idea the straight hell I live. If I ever stop being a dispatcher... I'm booking the next flight to Jamaica and Smoking my brain out the other side of my head. Just to get away....
I'm saddened that I'm going to have to call the PRG guy and tell him I'm S. O. L. to work the opening ceremonies. I was really looking forward to that..... I was enjoying working with my peers.. All thease hot together, hip, trying extra hard intense group of tech - mercenary Special forces type personalities. And just holding back, enjoying the even work load for a change.... Being a neck down mook.
Not constantly thinking two week ahead for calls that had really nothing to do with my income. Also not working with people I sometimes detest working with.
I hate to really write this even though I promised myself extra honesty here. Often.. Like on this short crewed show, They're too old to be doing what they're doing. But, won't admit it because this... this is their social life... REMEMBER...It's not a job... When we've been through this before and really we've been covering for them in one way or another - some for 10 or more years now. First it's the women who cover for these guys because they are the slick teflon senior dudes. And shit doesn't stick to them... they chat up the Sm's and somehow through sheer force of will, get others to do they're Kneeling on the floor - dance floor change. Or, a props move. So, I'm stopping.. if they won't work and I'm their grip I'm standing too...
Or, they, the guys I detest.... Just Mook it when they're really filling a space on the electrics that some junior Carp ( who has even has more Board Op chops than me...) suffered in flat-moving-land, with all the shuffling idiot carpenters - sure there's several who are real scenic's but the rest are often wastes of space... space cadets... the also ran... the orphan roster dregs.. Or Schulze's. Honestly I can't describe it longer...
