The Underground City....
It's amazing how many people staff this building.... The last two times I was here for madonna and AC/DC I was still wildly filling holes on shifts and dealing with checking in a hundred people myself to walk through the building and experience all the different groups checking in their army of Security, hospitality and seating and cleaning staff.
They like us are all probably casual workers who work other jobs and eek out an extra living here every B.C. lions game, Auto show or the rare Mega - Concert. The only difference is they for the most part are Nonunion staff. So the people checking them in are far more relaxed than I feel at the moment. Even though I know everything is going to be o.k.....I think. In fact there's so many people here in the vom's and warrens underneath the general seating that the building is getting noticeably warmer as the workers filter in. It quite the phenomena... body heat and presence. With it seems to come and extra energy. like somethings going to happen soon. magic for 67, 000 people including the swarms of staffers around me.... that Buzz that's why I still do this. I feel less tired from walking over hells half acre while the show was building in... and soon it will just be.
Another plus, come 3am, I'm handing the stewardship of the steel strikes over to my dispatch compatriot ( who's done all this much, longer than I have....) And I'm starting early at "White Christmas".. Because the theatre is recovering from the deluge system going off three nights ago. And the whole lighting rig needs to be rehung and refocused.
I wonder what I'm getting into there...?
