Scary Monsters....
It's Huge......soon to be full of stars....A third of the show is in the venue... waiting... At first....crouching low on the horizon when you look at it from the other end of the venue. It doesn't even make sense sitting on the ground. Resting on the surface of the building floor it has a Giant Japanese robot Skeleton look to it as the crew walk around and over it like lilliputans. But it's rising fast .... I walk away and start calling and then look back and it's higher on the horizon and... there's more....I go for coffee... get back... and there's even MORE.
It's a crane and forklift build... first with 5 cranes hoisting huge ship yard like towers into the sky. Which are only there to support the even larger, thick, fat, black roof span pieces that are imprisoned in between. all while a fleet of bulky forklifts muscle around the smaller sections, sections that even still dwarf the steel crew people.
They ended the day with four huge power block motors hoisted into place on the support towers. Designed to winch the centre span up without touching the ground so that the four, jointed leg truss sections can be connected. It has a drity oil rig look to it right now... very industrial. Tomorrow it will be coated with a rubber trap like fabric that will give it a more smooth, alien finish....
But, I have to look away and finish all the little funny odd crews calling tomorrow.. So I can bang of the last of the bulk crew grip calls the day after.... The crew didn't seem so huge but as each strike crew overlaps it's actually sucking more into the show than I thought... thankfully, Defleppard canceled and people are still calling in looking for work...Because we still have to crew one larger portion of this here and there.. plus crew our other venues... As this monster takes shape....
