Dice Game....
Well, the rock and roll route is a wash out right now. And the film industry has been slow ( Very ) slow. That coupled with the civic strike and the PNE all going to all the senior cats. I've decided to play it safe and stick it out at The Stanley for Cookin.
Which is a great show, The R&B Jazz band and the girls are great performers. The gig is just, "Point light at pretty girl - collect paycheck" It just that the money isn't really all that. And I so wanted to get a couple more grand into the funds for next years RRSP dump. So, of course Murphy's law intruded. The gig I thought I wasn't going to get out at the PNE got to me due to some strange politics.
But, I'm the calling steward. We're in negotiations. And I really feel internally pressured to stay where I am and eat the loss. Plus, all the other guys on the list who haven't had work this summer deserve a shot at a good quick run. hauling around dog jumps all day at the coliseum isn't really a lighting guys gig and I really want to just start concentrating on lighting. With Company in Sept, the Opera and Beauty again in Dec I could work most of this year behind one sort of spotlight or another in the different venues. And that kind of easy work would give me time to get connected with the new lighting rig at the QET once the interior is finished. And get this damn Tattoo, now that I've got the idea complete for Tyler at Sacred Heart.
I'm trying to see the bright side about August and not doing the PNE. Another bright spot is I've connected up with someone who's going to be working at PS lighting. Which might be a better connection in movies now that the local has no seniority clause anymore.
On the dating front it's been ironic as well....I was chatting with a girl on a site and offered her Tix to opening night ( I've really given up on meeting someone thru the personals other than friendship. But, I've been keeping up with replying to interesting people . I've made two female friends in LA and Boston and it's a great way to get back to chatting with women without rejection having a sting to it. ) So I met this woman on opening night of the show I was working. The odd thing was her friend that she brought was also on the same personal's site in the past. In fact she was one of the first women I sent an email to and never got a reply.
