So it's almost 2, Sunday night and this is only my second update since I joined this site. John and I are completely obsessed with The Sopranos we have watched season 1 and season 2 in about four days. 10 hours in one night, I guess I don't need to say that it is my new favorite group of gansters. Also I am very excited, one of my best friends Shauna is getting married in September, and her bridal shower is on thursday. Luckily, I was able to get off work, and now I can go. Thank god, considering that I am one of her bridesmaids.
Randomly, last night while I was trying to fall asleep I remembered the first time I met John. At least it is what I remember as the first time I met John. LOL. It's weird how some memories just blur all together and others stay so fresh in my mind.In this perticular instance I remember the exact outfit I was wearing and this was in the summer of 1996, the summer my friend Shauna graduated. She and my friend Nikee went to Germany and Scotland that summer. I hung out with two punk rock boys and went to Murder Junkie Shows. Anyway, I was wearing 8 hole docs, with purple laces with blue star bead attached right at the first set of holes, blue and green plaid pants rolled to the top of my shoes, a fitted blue t-shirt that I bought at good will for a buck, and assorted spiked bracelets, and about 16 earings, nose ring and tongue ring. Honestly I have no idea what John or Josh was wearing. But I am about to get ahead of myself. Josh called and said he wanted to hang out so I of course said cool. He said he wanted me to meet his friend John who lived in Adams Morgan. I said cool. At the time the only metro station close to there was Woodly Park/National Zoo, so it was quite a walk from there to Columbia Rd. After a long walk in the humid DC summer weather, we finally arrived at John's apartment, which used to be right next to Bedrock Billard's. This was an area of DC that later on in my life I would get to know much better, but this was my first trip there. We hung out in his apartment for a while, finally John was like this is boring let's do something. So he looks in the paper and the Checker Cabs were playing at the Black Cat. Now it was weird in retrospect that he came up with the idea for us to go to a ska show cause he HATES ska. So we hail a cab, in the cab John yells at the cabbie to not go through so many zones. In DC cab rates are determinded by zones, so going through 2 zones is a cheap ride, but say 4 or five zones ups the cost a lot. So we get down to 14th St, and find a liquor store, where we bought a cheap ass bottle of vodka to sip on outside of the club. So we are sitting on a step outside of the Black Cat swilling vodka and we come up with this great idea, let's all blow fire balls by filling our mouths with vodka and lighting it on fire. All three of us take hugh sips and hold our lighters up... I am thinking cool fireballs...so at the same time we all spit our vodka towards the flames on our lighters, only to put out the flame and spit vodka on ourselves and some other punks waiting to get into the show. That shit was funny, I really thought it was gunna catch on fire, and now I am just covered in vodka. Then a few minutes later Josh was being mister cool guy talking about himself and his band to the same punks sticky with the vodka we had spit out of our mouths. He was wearing cut off jean shorts that had frayed very badly on the bottoms, so John and I decided to light the frayed part on fire, so Josh is standing there with his pants on fire for as long as John and I could hold in the laughter. Pretty much after that the night becomes a blur of alcohol and cigarettes. I do remeber getting some fried chicken fron the KFC down the street. But I don't remember if I went home or how I got home. But it was fun, and it was the beginning of many exploits of Liz, John and Josh.
