Hey, Reagan Photographer... there's a young guy in New York City named Joe Holmes who is a real inspiration to me when I slip into the mode of contemporary street photojournalist. You might really like his stuff. Every day he shoots ONE picture in New York and posts it online at "Joe's New York City."

Does the SG tour end in L.A. this weekend? I don't know if you're heading back home then, but there's a gallery showing in New York that runs 'til November 19th at the Chrystie Street Gallery. It's called "NYC Photobloggers" and will include a lot of stuff in the same genre as what you're shooting (lots of photographers, including some of Joe's stuff.) Here's some info:
I think if they nuked New York off the map, Joe's portfolio would become like a national treasure - a terrific archive of images that captured the place and the people. See if you agree:
