This evening we rushed down to the waterfront to secure the boats in advance of Earl's pummeling of the East Coast. By the time we'd gotten there the other volunteers were moving the boats from their slips into our much smaller slightly protected area. Honestly this didn't make sense siince we had to tie them up and then find creative ways of putting fenders in between the boats. Thankfully, the skipper of our schooner came by at that point and said to get the boats back in their slips. A move I fully supported. So, we reveresed everything that had been done and secured the boats more sensibly. The latest projections suggest that Earl won't hit us and that we'll be at worst dealing with a little high wind. This meant that we didn't have take the masts down. There was still alot of work, but the nice thing is that alot of people came down to help and the director excused herself to very kindly make a gatorade and beer run. With so much help we got things squared away by 6:30 and spent the rest of the evening hanging out on the schooner and drinking beer, wine and gatorade. Really nice night. Ended up exchanging numbers with someone. She's cute as hell, smart, and into a number of things I'm into. The only thing that concerns me is that she has a slightly well, prim, affect. Part of my reason for loving SG is that I feel as though I get far too much primness in my life and the more liberated side of myself ends up atrophying or being neglected. My relationships have all been with fairly vanilla women. I'd like to break that cycle. Who knows what she's like? People looking at me wouldn't necessarily get my punk rock roots and often are shocked at my less uptight opinions. So, who knows. We're supposed to go out tomorrow or saturday so I can introduce her to a friend of mine who lives in her neighborhood. Said friend is a bartender who once opened for L7 with her all woman band. So these two are, at least superficially, complete opposites.
This should be interesting.
Since I'm sort of getting back into dating I know I need to keep an open mind...that should be my mantra, Well, we'll see.
