Last week I went to the cardiologist to have an ECG. I didnt expect anything to come up. I thought everything was fine. My ECG results came back as abnormal, and I had to see the doctor who wanted to invistigate what the results said. He told me, it looks like I have something called Wolff White Parkinson Syndrome.
Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) is a syndrome of pre-excitation of the ventricles of the heart due to an accessory pathway known as the bundle of Kent. This accessory pathway is an abnormal electrical communication from the atria to the ventricles.
While the vast majority of individuals with a bundle of Kent remain asymptomatic throughout their entire lives, there is a risk of sudden death associated with the syndrome. Sudden death due to WPW syndrome is rare (incidence of less than 0.6%[3][4]), and is due to the effect of the accessory pathway on tachyarrhythmias in these individuals. (from Wikipedia)
I'm having some tests done over the month to confirm the doctors theory.
I am in complete shock, because I didnt realise that there was anything wrong with my heart, and it has felt completely unreal. I'm still struggerling to believe it, but I want to accept it and take the necisarry help and advice the doctors give me.
