Aaaaaaaaaand the fire sale on my dignity has begun: last night, I tried a speed dating event.
To be honest, it was decent. The people in charge weren't really do anything too terribly original with the concept, and the hostesses, while accommodating, also seemed incredibly tired and bored, not peppy and helpful as was sort of heavily emphasized on their site, and which I imagine would help for the folks nervous about putting themselves out there. (Read- Not me.)
However, there were only two people that I didn't enjoy meeting and talking to, with virtually everyone being extremely nice and fun to chat with for the two minutes that we had together, and I wish that more of them had hung around a while afterwards, which I did with several of the others. Mostly guys, but a couple of the girls I spoke to, a pair of civilian workers for the Air Force from Santa Barbera, stuck around.
I even got a match! You write down the five people you most enjoyed talking to and if any of those five puts you in their five as well, they give you one another's information. The trouble is, they rouletted us so fast, and didn't let us keep the cards, so now I can't actually remember which of the five is the one that matched up with me... great...
