Currently, it makes me wonder if people can't love one another without a degree of ignorance between them. I don't mean the sort of love that you feel for your friends. I regard that type of love as no less important than the kind I speak of, but specifically I'm talking about that sort of love that people dream of, that I've certainly dreamed of, between two people that seem almost destined to meet. It would seem, perhaps at the folley of my youth, that such love has failed me, due to my lack of ignorance in it, but perhaps time will prevail and the romantic notion I've so long dreamed of will come to pass after all. Either way, I don't plan to spend my time wallowing. I've taken steps to ensure that, at present, it won't bother me any further.
However, it has raised this question in my mind. Can two people powerfully, passionately love one another without a degree of ignorance on one or both parts? It seems to me now that if one person is able to probe deep enough into a person, the lack of love is almost inevitable. We only find things with which we identify on a wholly uninteresting level. We discover how terrifyingly ordinary each of us is, and we all fall short of our own expectations. If you scratch the surface of any person, it seems, you only find the mercury underneath that reflects the total and boring truth of yourself. We're all the same. And it's pathetic and dull.
At least, it seems so. At present.
