Well I guess I'll finish off writing about the actual handfasting and whatnot now
The Brass Pint didn't open yesterday, but I did get the sign done that I was painting and it looks great!
Anyhoo....So Monday I was running around getting all sorts of things finished and ready for the handfasting. Once my parents came over we went out for sushi. I did the ordering for all of us, since I at least knew sorta half assed what the stuff was and no one else wanted to. Got sushi for Kelly, Cyriaca, Mom and myself and had to order some soup and pork dumplings for dad, since he isn't the adventerous type when it comes to food.
The food was great, I haven't had sushi that good in a long time, and the entire meal for all of us wasn't to expensive either! I think I'm going to have to go to that place more often. I love sushi.
Tuesday began with me driving Kelly to work early (7) so he could be done work by 2. Yes he went to work the day of our handfasting, but that was so he could get the after off and just lay around with me all day
After that I came home and went back to bed, only to be woken up two hours later with my parents walking into the apartement because I slept through the phone calls and buzzer.
We get a pile of stuff done, and at about two thirty I go and pick up Bran, the guy who is doing the ceremony for us. I get all dressed up in my corset and skirt, and I can't believe how awesome I look!
We get the area ready and wait for people to show up. The weather was beautiful, sunny and hot, but we held the ceremony in a spectacular grove of trees that offered plenty of shade yet had ample space for the wind to blow through. I don't think a more perfect place exists in this city.
The ceremony was short and simple, and exactly what I wanted. It felt so strange to stand at an actual alter, looking into Kelly's eyes while I speak my vows to him. Yet at the same time it felt so right. Near the end of the ceremony, our hands are bound with seven cords. The cords stay on until the end of the ceremony, and in a truly traditional handfasting, they aren't supposed to be removed until the union is consumated. The look on Kellys face was priceless when Bran whispered this to him, and it took Kelly less than a split second to grab my hand and start hauling me off into the bushes.
However we didn't do the traditional thing, instead we took of the cords, kept them tied, and I'm going to do something with them so we can hang them on the wall or something.
So after the ceremony, we went to my Aunt and Uncles for supper. It was such a fun time, laughing and joking around with friends, enjoying amazing food. One of the first things we did was change, simply because it was too hot and uncomfortable for a corset, and we didn't want to get our clothes messed at the BBQ. It was kind of funny, because the Bride and Groom were the only ones there in jeans! We did the usual cutting the cake, opened the one present we had (it was a box of really nice towels from Cyriaca and her family) and had a generally great time.
The BBQ was then followed by some drinks and more food at the Brass Pint. We had the entire place to ourselves, lots of booze that was bought for us, and free reign of the music. It was soo much fun. They amazed us with some aweseome appetizers, like shrimp, scallops, chicken skewers and mussels. We were all full already but there was no way we could pass up food this good.
Around midnight it started to storm, we turned down the lights and the place was lit up whenever lighting struck. It was pouring rain outside, and it was completely gorgeous. We made our way home, each of us still tipsy from all the drink. I cannot think of a better end to our handfasting day than making love to the sounds of a storm outside.![smile](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/smile.0d0a8d99a741.gif)
