How fucking great are tatto artists?
I went in to see an artist about getting a portrait turned into a pin up. the portrait is of my partner, who I'm still with so no, it's not a decision I regret. But when all is said and done I didn't necessarily think it was a great likeness and i had fallen for the idea of having something that captured my ideal of her more than a set portrait which would always be less than totally accurate anyway.
So I didn't have any definite image in mind, but went to see Toni at Modern Body Art in Birmingham UK. I had a gil elvgren pin-up book and we talked about some ideas. I also said I wanted some kind of literary theme as my partner is really into writing and historical literature. So I'm going to post a before pic, a couple of the elvgren images she used to get ideas, and the finished product.
I'm going back to get some white ink added and some background ina couple of weeks. ut basically i couldn't be happier. I just love that a good artist can take your ideas and come up with something you like more than you could have imagined.
