took little niece (6-year old drama queen) & little nephew (8-year old video-game addict) to the park today.
the park in question is pretty much nothing but grass , with a little concrete-lined crick running thru a corner of it. (It's across the street from what is now a Middle School, but was my High School approximately 12 thousand years ago. when I was in HS the park in question was called "Stoner ParK")
anyway, it's somewhat heartening to be reminded that despite all the Grand Theft Autos, the Worl of Warcrafts, the Mortal Kombats, --any sort of hi-tech, blood-drenched mayhem you can come up with, the greatest game of all will always be Racin' Sticks.
(whereby you &, say, yer little sister put yer sticks in the crick at the same time & whichever stick--or pinecone, or piece of bark--passes an agreed-upon point first is the winner)
I love that game.
