back on-line.
sort of.
I've been having problems lately with memory, freezing up, viruses, & what-not. also, my computer was acting up.
anyway, I took it (the computer) into my local computer repair place-slash-Bible school (it's a small town) & asked the technician/pastor if he could run a diagnostic.
he said that he could, & would, & mentioned that he could upgrade my computer & do such&such to the rams & the gigabytes with the updated what-have-you.
alright, I, tired, said. do that.
he ignored that & spent the next hour or so explaining why it would be better if I did that.
I tried to break in a few times to tell him that I'd, in fact, already agreed to do what it was that he was trying to talk me into doing.
but he would have none of that.
at any rate, after a few weeks & hundreds of dollars, my computer is supposed to be much better.
it seems, to me, to be rather more temperamental & suicidal than than it was before I took it in for fixin', but perhaps I'm not sophisticated enough to appreciate...whatever it was that I paid all this money for to have happen.
(I used to feel the same way about drugs.)
anyway, I've replaced the motherboard & the hard drive. in the past I've also replaced the speakers, the keyboard, the monitor, the mouse & the housing.
(the Zen question for the day is: Is it still the same computer?)
at present I'm trying to re-rip all my cds onto my new (& bottomless, I've been assured) hard drive, rather dismayed to find that some of my favorite cds (Neko Case & Her Boyfriends, f'rinstance) have become hopelessly battered, scratched, spindled & mutilated in the time between when I'd originaly ripped them & thought I'd give them nary a thought nae more.
ah well.
anyway, that's what's been going on with my computer (& thanks for asking)
all kindsa wierd crazy shit's been happening to me otherwise & I'll hopefully put that in this space next time, but I'm tired. so very tired.
