I saw something absolutely incredible the other day--& fortunately was in the company of eight other people who saw the same thing, or else I might not be sure that I saw what I saw.
anyway, I was at the prison--in my housing unit we feed the inmates in their cells so for breakfast I have to go to the culinary to pick up the cart with all the food & wait for inmates from a diffrent unit to come & push them across the yard.
this was at about 5 in the morning. the sun wasn't up yet but it was getting light. I was waiting for the cart-pushers & shootin' the shit with a few other officers waiting with their carts & the guy in the "CP" (a sort of lookout & machine-gun nest set into the central building about 30 feet off the ground)
the cart-pushers were walking across the exercise yard when the guy in the CP goes "Jesus Christ! Look at THAT!"
there was a streak of blue flame across the sky--a fast-moving nucleus of blue & green with a tail of blue at a slant towards the ground, leaving a trail of smoke that hung in the air for a few minutes.
the nucleus disintegrated, leaving just the trail of smoke.
I, the officers I was with who watched it & the cart-pushers all assumed it was a meteorite, & a bloody huge one at that.
the next night I heard from someone that they'd heard something about a jet that'd exploded over the Nevada desert (where I live) & that the pilot had ejected.
I poked around online for a bit & couldn't find anything.
last night I tracked down the source of the jet story & found out that he'd seen a little blurb on the CNN zipper--that a jet had exploded near Ely, but that the pilot had ejected.
I've done more poking around & can't find a damn thing.
I've never seen a jet explode (except in movies) but my expectations just don't jibe with what I saw.
I expect I won't hear anything more about it.
I told a co-worker about it & he said "Probably just something out of Area 51"
if anybody (assuming anybody reads this crap) hears anything about a jet-crash or anything happening in Nevada happening around dawn on the 19th of June, I'd like a heads-up & I'll be yer friend forever.
anyway--it was really, REALLY fucking cool.
