REMINDER
100 years from now no one will
remember that we destroyed the
environment.
--from this weeks Ironic Times.
--------
unrelated: for the past two weeks or so I've had a new partner at work, & either in spite of or because of the fact that he's a right-wing conservative & I'm the exact opposite of that, it looks like we'll probably get along for the year or so that we'll be working together.
one thing: our first night together he brought a bag of coffee & mentioned that he likes the fancy stuff & "can't stand that Folger's shit". I checked the bag & saw that it was fair trade & mentioned it, & that I couldn't find fair trade coffee in town.
he had never heard the term & I told him that it just meant that the farmers who actually grew & harvested the coffee were able to make a living wage from it.
I got the impression that any further coffee purchased by him would NOT bear the fair trade logo. on general principle.
other than that ( & the oft-repeated sentiment that Bagdhad shoulda been "glassed-over", freeing up the troops to march toward the Meditteranean & colonize & Christianize the Middle East) I think we'll get along.
