sometimes it seems like certain odd little scruples of mine are more idiotic than anything else.
my printer died a few months ago-- I thought that it might be just the cartridge, but after shelling out 30 bucks for a new one I just had a broken printer & a thirty dollar cartridge.
living in a small town (NOT the one listed over in the profile...I put in the zip code for "Toquerville, Utah"--pronounced Toker-ville--because I kinda like the name, but "Koosharem" is what popped up--which kinda sounds like a Pokemon character), I try to keep my business local rather than give my money to one of the big chains when I or a friend goes to a larger town, (& I don't much like ordering over or the internet --I wince at shipping costs & have a need for instant gratification--I like to turn something over in my hands before slapping down my cash)
at any rate, I just bought a scanner/printer/copier (which I'm rather fond of after a couple of days aquaintance) & only paid forty dollars more for the (purely theoretical) warm, fuzzy feeling of patronizing a local merchant. I'm trying NOT to think of how much beer &/or books I could've bought for that.
but I like finally having a scanner, although I tried scanning a few dozen typewritten poems & pieces out of the thousands of pages I've accumulated over the past couple of years & have gotten about 20% actual English words, 60% phonetically rendered Swahili, & 20% random punctuation which, when you get right down to it, is a helluva lot more entertaining than the pretencious crap that I'd originally written.
ah, well. life goes on.
