sylvia, whom I'm supposed to be cat-sitting, has disappeared. run off. gone.
2 things: one, the friend who left her in my care said that she'll sometimes disappear for a couple of days & come back to where the food is.
two: the first couple of days I discovered that, even in my little sparsely furnished house, she's pretty good at hiding, & I halfway expect to find her hiding in between the pages of a paperback, inside a lightbulb, or rolled up in a pair of socks.
thus far, nothing.
called the animal shelter & they said they haven't picked up a cat in months.
thing is, my other cats (I have 3) are kinda like furry little mafiosi--they barely get along with each other, & fiercely defend the "turf" from interlopers--(I've seen them chase off fierce dogs & bobcats that have dared to penetrate the perimeter looking for a peaceful place to crap or else just kinda sniff around) at the risk of anthropomorphising, I think they chased her off & snarl menacingly when she tries to come back.
I'll staple up some posters later today, I guess.
