The difference a week can make.
Y'know, we're not exactly out of the winter yet, but things are getting better. I just got back from the London Motorcycle Show where my buddy Paul and I spent the afternoon. Paul lives in one of the apartments downstairs from me here in the South Downs Park former asylum, and he on his Hayabusa and I on the R1 just enjoyed our first proper ride out of the year. Still lots of salt on the roads, and the wind chill is pretty keen. But nonetheless, there's always something elegiac about riding 175 kilograms of alloy and plastic at twice the national speed limit. A mixture of pastoral Sussex lanes and mean London docklands make for a striking trip out. All a far cry from last week, when snow covered pretty much everything. Here's our parking lot a week ago:
Mark's motor cars huddle together for warmth. Z4 steals the bedsheets. The ex-ambulance in the background is what Paul uses to transport his 'Busa and canoe to expeditions in Austria and beyond. I'm trying to persuade him to bring me along on the next trip
Anyway, a vague hint today that spring may be coming. Or is at least lying in bed and thinking about it. Star of the show for me was this retro-style 'Duke':
Quite an object of desire. Speaking of which, I'm not sure what's going on with Kelly the Teenage Witch. From next Wednesday onwards, I'll be back in my house in Staffordshire to press on with my MBA dissertation. I had been broadly hopeful about Kelly staying around again. But a growing body of circumstantial evidence suggests to me that she may be hooked up with an ex-b/f of hers. Who knows .. nonetheless, Kelly rather cryptically contacted me yesterday to say that she's just mailed me some hard-copy pictures of herself. Innaresting. If it's home-made porn, we're all good. Unless of course, it features her with some other 'actors'. If she's using non-union labour in the shoots, I'm going to be taking a pretty dim view of it all, let me tell you.
I'll keep you posted
