There I sat, watching the turning of the world. The change from innocence to guilt, clean to sullied.
I sat and watched ants flee in the distance, seeking to escape the unavoidable.
I sat and counted the minutes, back to front, reversing time to a new big bang. The beginning at the end.
I sat and listened as a steel throat screamed the warning of doom's arrival. Harbinger of Death, destroyer of worlds.
I sat, unflinching, as the second sun rose over the horizon. Blinded, I smiled.
I sat and felt the vibrations of man-made thunder moving through the ground, waves that broke upon my legs and shattered my bones.
I sat, face turned to the light as my skin dried, cracked and flaked to ash.
There I sat, bearing witness to the end, even as my body blew away on the wind of destruction.
There I sit still, a shadow burned into the earth.
