Today was a day of pulling my head out of the sand. First, while reading Men's Health magazine (my unofficial bible), I realized little by little just how much I'm not taking care of myself. I need a better diet, more exercise, I need to get out more, and I'm pretty much just coasting at the moment. As a result, I'm taking small but acheivable self-improvement steps. My first goal: improving my diet. I can't say I'm abandonning junk food, but I'm trying to get more fruits and vegetables in my diet, I'm cutting back on my intake of Diet Pepsi (*gasp*), and I want to rediscover the world of non battered, non-deep fried foods. If there are any suggestions for healthy, low-sugar snacks, I'm listening.
The evening was also a time of realizations; scary ones. For those who do not know, I share a duplex with my parents (it's cheap rent while I'm in school). My dad just took me to his basement today to show me that a window had been forced open. Nothing was disturbed, but the window had obviuosly been openned by someone from the outside, The next house over is about 3 feet from ours, so there's just enough room for someone to walk over, crouch and do their dirty, sinful business with excellent coverage. It's startling though because this is not the kind of neighbourhood you'd expect to see this kind of thing in. So it leaves a bad tast ein my brain that I'm going to have to put bars on my windows.
I just hope the next year makes me as much money as I hope it will, so I can move someplace safer. Of course, then I'll worry about my folks more.

Good luck on the diet thing..
I stopped drinking pop and eating fast food cold turkey. When i decided to become a vegetarian i just changed it.. and if you can get through 2 weeks, its all good after that.
As for low sugar/healthy snacks... I dunno, i dont eat much between meals.. and if i do i eat a lot of fruit
I found it easiest to start making smoothies, cuz theyre so yummie.
