Funny nursing story (this will make no sense to anyone not medical)
So, I worked with this Nurse for about two months on a cardiac floor and he always seemed a little weird to me. He was always sweating bullets, agitated as all get out, and he was extermely antisocial (really doesn't work when you take care of people for a living). He was always a total jerk to me and the rest of the staff for that matter. Well, finally after working with this guy for a while, he starts to calm the fuck down. Then I actually liked working with him. Well, about 3 weeks ago (I no longer work at this hospital full time) this nurse floats to another floor (this is required once a month, I hate it, everyone hates it, but we deal) and I guess when he is down there, he finds out that one of his patients has demerol ordered q3-4 PRN for pain via IV. So the man goes to the pyxis and pulls out not one vial, but 50 and steals them all. At 11p he floats back to our floor where he does the same thing. Now anyone who knows anything about the pyxis system knows that this is THE DUMBEST thing you could ever do. In order to pull out the med, you have to use a unique code. I mean come on, they are gonna figure out you did it killer! Anyhoo, so the nurse gets fired and goes before the nursing board next week sometime.. 99% likely the boy will lose his license.
Can't believe anyone would be this dumb.. maybe he didn't like nursing afterall and this was his fucked up way af getting out of it.. who knows

Addiction is a sad thing. It kind of creeps me out though to hear that the hospitals can sometimes be as corrupt as everything else in this world. What would happen if somebody who was in charge of my pain medication decided to switch it out with saline because they were jonesin'? Scary thought and I am glad this guy got caught. I wonder, does this happen a lot? What hospital are you at? Penrose, memorial, or some other one? Until next time...
