ok, so the '56 beetle wasnt ready for the greater toledo volkswagen club's show. althought that was disappointing, i realized how good a friend my vw buddy,Thom, really is. he was there for me whenever i needed help and he stayed up all night with me the day before the show to try to have the car ready. although a slight setback hept us from driving it to the show (the ignition coil exploded), i felt good about the fact that i TRIED. i didnt just give up and say "oh well, i guess im not gonna make it to the show" Thom and i were in his driveway even after the show started , rerouting power to the coil, and making a whole new wiring harness for the brakelights, all the way up until an hour before the show was over. we were determined to drive it there. but....when we tried to start it up,BOOM! no more ignition coil. yeah i was bummed, but i had to laugh. i didnt feel like i failed. i felt happy that we got far enought with the car that we were able to even have that problem. so now what? shit, i got all winter to figure out how NOT to detonate ignition coils! haha! and ill be driving my '56 to the michigan vintage volkswagen club show in the spring.
