So today was definitely not so hot.....
As stated before, the dogs had a skuffle and Sidney (the Rottie) bit Meatball (the Beagle) around her left eye.
I looked it over on Sunday and came to the conclusion that is was a pretty bad bite, but if I cleaned it up and kept an eye on it, it should be OK. It was...
For a while...
So I get up this morning and come downstairs and Meatball is curled up in a corner and the entire left side of her face is swollen up to the point where her eye was shut and she was having trouble opening her mouth.
I'm a pretty level headed guy when it comes to things like this, but this got to me. She looked awful.
The kicker is that my car is still in the shop, and I needed to get her to the Vet NOW.
I got a hold of my Mom and asked her for a lift. So Liz, MOm and I loaded her into the back of my Moms pickup truck and headed off to the pet Emergency Room.
I had to carry Meatball in my arms like a baby because she couldn't walk. She just clung to me and panted ansd sweated. I had to be extra gentle with her bacause any movement made her howl bloody murder.
The vet looked her over and said that dog bited can be deceptive, and even if it doesn't look to bad, they can infect and do big muscle damage.
We're leaving her there overnight. They're going to but her out, drian the infection, put her on an antibiotic drip and do an exploratory on the bite to see just how bad it is. I'm somewhat crushed right now..
I ADORE that dog. She was meant to be mine the minurte I saw her, to the point where I had to argue on her behalf to Liz. (Who loves her just as much as I do now)
She has the most beautiful little old lady beagle face, and not it has to be shaved and drained.... Fuck.
At least she's going to be OK. I was quietly bracing myself for really bad news.
She's my other love in the world after Liz.
So because I'm not really in the mood for it, I'm going to hold off on STUPID PICTURE OF THE DAY for today.
I'll put a new one up tomorrow. Promise.
In leau of that, here's one of my fat little old lady dog when she felt better....

*Hugs* for Meatball. She is adorable and I'm sorry she has to go through pain. But, I'm sure she will be just fine. Take it easy for now.
