So last week I installed Windows Vista Beta 2 Build 5384.4, and it's awsome.
I'd go so far as to say they could ALMOST release it as a stand alone now. There are some wonky bits here and there, but overall it's very impressive.
The UAC function is annoying, but will help keep my wife from killing her PC.
For some reason a few progs don't work with it. For instance, Adobe Encore DVD doesn't recognize the OS (Photoshop works fine), and it won't even install Nero (I hate Roxio).
Otherwise it's been smooth sailing. ATI released beta drivers for thier cards, (Don't know about NVIDIA yet) and the desktop graphics are nuts. Aero Glass is really, really cool.
A lot of people have bitched that it's ripping off OSX too much, but fuck it, it works, so I'm happy to have it.
Anyone that's considered installing it should go for it. I can't imagine going back to XP at this point, and really look forward to what ealse is going to be implimented down the line.
I've been tinkering with it for a while, so if anyone has any questions, I may be able to help you out.
