Hi there SG-land! I love the topics that I recently been writing about! This one resonates with me a lot as well! Let’s start ❤️🔥
For as long as I can remember, Barcelona was my dream destination to settle down. The allure of its vibrant culture, stunning architecture, and Mediterranean charm captivated my heart. I envisioned myself strolling through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter, soaking up the sun on Barceloneta Beach, and indulging in the rich flavors of Catalan cuisine. However, reality hit hard when I spent more than two months there, struggling to make ends meet. The cost of living was overwhelming, and I found myself constantly trying to save every penny, often at the expense of basic needs like food. It was a challenge I wasn't prepared for 🥲
(Sorry I don’t have many pics from that time because of the stolen phone, so many good memories and pictures are lost)
In contrast , my experiences in Colombia have been nothing short of extraordinary. This country has everything I need and more, making it an ideal place to consider for long-term living. Here's why Colombia stands out to me:
Colombia is a land of stunning natural beauty, from its lush tropical forests to the majestic Andes Mountains and pristine beaches. Whether I'm exploring the vibrant city life in Medellin, attending a wedding in Pereira, or immersing myself in the cultural richness of Cali, there's always something new and exciting to discover. The diverse landscapes provide endless opportunities for adventure, be it hiking in the Cocora Valley, lounging by the Caribbean Sea in Cartagena, or experiencing the unique biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest.
One of the most appealing aspects of living in Colombia is its affordability. Compared to Barcelona, the cost of living in Colombia is significantly lower, allowing for a more comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle without constantly worrying about finances. This means being able to enjoy delicious Colombian cuisine, participate in cultural activities, and explore the country's many attractions without breaking the bank lol.
Colombians are known for their warmth and hospitality, making it easy to feel at home. The sense of community and the friendliness of the people have left a lasting impression on me. Whether it's dancing to the rhythm of salsa and bachata, sharing stories over a cup of tinto (Colombian coffee), or simply enjoying the lively atmosphere of local festivals, there's a genuine sense of belonging that I haven't experienced anywhere else.
Colombia offers a perfect blend of modernity and tradition, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. The country's growing economy and vibrant cities are ripe with possibilities, making it an attractive destination for those looking to start anew.
While Barcelona will always hold a special place in my heart, my experiences in Colombia have opened my eyes to new possibilities. The affordability, natural beauty, and warm culture make it an ideal place to consider for a new chapter in my life. I adore this country and everything it has to offer, and I can't wait to see what the future holds as I continue to explore and embrace the magic of Colombia.
In the end, it's not just about the place but the experiences and memories we create. Colombia has given me a sense of adventure, community, and love that I cherish deeply. And who knows? Maybe one day, I'll find myself calling this beautiful country my permanent home ❤️🩹🥹
