Tracking to Laguna Humantay in Peru is a truly breathtaking and rewarding experience. The turquoise waters of the lagoon, surrounded by the majestic Andes mountains, create a picturesque setting that leaves visitors in awe of nature's beauty.
Located near Cusco, the journey to Laguna Humantay involves a moderate hike, making it accessible to most travelers with a reasonable level of fitness. The hike typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the lagoon from the starting point, which is a trek through diverse landscapes, including valleys, rocky terrains, and breathtaking vistas. It was my first hike and it was a bit challenging because I wasnβt used to the altitude.
As you ascend, the air becomes thinner due to the altitude, just like with rainbow mountain but the altitude there is less which is much better! Also a bit of humidity.
Once you reach Laguna Humantay, the view is awe-inspiring. The vibrant blue waters contrast against the snow-capped peaks, creating a surreal setting that feels almost otherworldly. Many visitors take a moment to sit by the lagoon, taking in the scenery and finding a sense of peace in the serenity of the surroundings. And be prepared that itβs gonna be hella overcrowded because itβs the high season cause itβs dry now.
Hiking to Laguna Humantay not only provides a chance to witness natural beauty but also offers a spiritual connection to the land and its history. The lagoon holds significance for local Andean communities, as they consider it a sacred place with spiritual importance.
In conclusion, hiking to Laguna Humantay in Peru is an incredible adventure that rewards travelers with unforgettable views and a sense of connection to nature and the local culture. It is an experience that will stay with you long after you return home, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.
