So work sucked today. I drilled about 1500-2000 3/4" holes in masonite for a good part of it. Sometimes the task sucks, but when you finish you get to stand back and say "ahhhh". I'm building a replica of the Carmax Info Center kiosks for a commercial. And something occured to me about myself while I was drilling all those fucking holes. I finally realized why I like to build things from drawings, instead of of the cuff. I had a lot of time to think about it while I was drilling those cocklicking holes. I like how it is more of a challenge. If you are building something to be exactly right, especially when duplicating and object, when you are finished, you step back, and you are either right, or wrong. There is no opinion about it, it is a matter of fact. If you are just making something, like art for example, it might be right to one, yet wrong to another. And since I am very good at what I do, I like the challenge of always being right. I take pride in thinking I have at least a 9 out of 10 record. So like the holes, that took me 2 hours to get the spacing just right to make all the rows end where they needed to yet have even spacing, the task sucked, but being right at the end of the day makes it feel so satisfying.
And I have to say, Pet has been greeting me when I get home from work everyday in the perfect way. She is so good most of the time. I hope her headache goes away while she is in the shower, I would like to reward her...
