For the love of dog

So as you might know, i was planning on getting a dog. The thing is, i'm renting my appartment. So i thought i'd ask my new landlord if it was okay to have a dog in the appartment. Many collegues assured me it's illegal to forbid this anyway... But still, i asked. And said no. I don't know why. So i was really upset, but didn't give up that easily. I went through my lease and it says that the renter can't forbid pets (among other things) and asked my realtor if it was still the same lease i had before (i've been living here for 4 years and the new landlord just bought the place a couple months ago) and he confirmed it's the same except for the duration of the rent. Although i might see a new one mid may as it's when the place is officially the new guy's property. It's agreeed that i keep the appartment for at least another year.

So here's the deal : I read a few things on the law concerning pets in appartment. It can't be forbidden except if, in the case of dogs, it is one amongst 4 breeds considered "dangerous" by the law and any dog that ressembles those 4 breeds. Except from that, any damage or disturbance to the neighborghood is my responsibility, although i already considered that.
Would it be so bad if i adopted a dog if he's not from any of those 4 non allowed breeds even though my new landlord doesn't want to ?

Adopt the dog, if he decides to have a problem with it show him the lease with the info that allows you to have a pet highlighted

@twizz @heiwa @catarina Thanks for your answers ! Actually, i talked to my realtor after that, and he told me we have to get an appoitment between the landlord (or more specifically her brother since it's him that take care of eveything, she's handicaped)  around mid may to sign the new lease. Although he again said it'll be the same i have now only with the duration changing. I saw the landlord's brother sunday, he came to my place for my dishwasher which is broken, anyway. I was thinking about not bringing the dog thing up, and just wait for the moment i'd have to sign the new lease and check if the part about pets is here, and the same. I still wonder if i'll bring it up or if i'll just hope for the best with the law behind me. But just before he left, he stopped and asked me "oh, and what was it about the dog ?" so i told him i wanted to adopt. He asked me which breed but i don't know as in an animal shelter i can fall in love with a love of dogs... He told me his sister (the landlord) and his mother aren't too much into dogs... Although, i don't see why their likes/dislikes should affect my life in this appartment as long as it's not sticking to it after i find a new place. But i didn't say much as i hoped it wouldn't come up again. So right now i'm waiting... For around mid may... If at the moment of signing it comes up as a problem. I don't know what i will do, as my parents will never support me to leave this place "just for a dog", especially since it's planned for like 6 months that i'll stay here for at least one more year starting from may. I don't think i can find a better place than this right now, specifically for a dog... But i don't think i can last a year alone. And i'm deeply stuck with the idea of having a dog... I'll keep you guys updated !
