It's been ages since I blogged on here, so some quick updates just in case anyone's interested...
I'm obsessed with this song right now:
I moved to Nottingham a couple of months ago and am really enjoying my PhD. I've been attending an undergrad course in Ancient Hebrew which has helped to solidify my previous knowledge so that I can read the more basic Biblical texts. This has made me really happy.
I inherited a cat from the housing co-op I used to live in.
Luckily I managed to find a house in Nottingham where I could bring her. Everyone else was moving out and couldn't take her.
I've been seeing a Turkish girl in the pharmacy department. She's very sweet.
I've been doing what I can for the student protests here in the UK, though really I'm a bit old for rioting in freezing temperatures so my support has been more moral than physical. These are interesting times we live in, and I wonder what this country will be like in five years time after the cuts have really kicked in. The government is really very shortsighted, unless they want a population of uneducated young people on the dole instead of at uni. It's not like there's jobs for them to do.
I've been hanging out mostly with Baha'is for some reason in Nottingham. Baha'is and Iranians, because my girlfriend's mates with the secretary of the Iranian society. It's been interesting hearing about Iranian politics from people who've experienced the repression of the country first hand.
I keep thinking, this time last year I was in Israel. How strange.
