So I get a text from my drummer asking what happened to rehearsal today. Huh? I didn't get it [the text] because I was on the phone with a girl (notice i said A girl and not THIS girl, more on her later. ) and for some reason, the text notification on my phone hasn't been working irregardless of whether I'm on a call or not. Anyhow, the band I'm in (for now) has a show on Saturday and the rehearsal schedule has been well, not on schedule. We rehearse at a Christian arts community center and with all the dance and gymnastics classes going on, it is very difficult to find rehearsal time that fits everyone's schedule. Today, at our "rehearsal" our bassist couldn't have made it anyway. The other keyboard player was M.I.A. and I took a nap and then woke up and talked to a girl.
Now, any serious musician that I know will agree with me (or at least understand) this statement: YOU CANNOT HAVE A REHEARSAL UNLESS EVERYONE IS THERE!!!!!!!! I do not understand why some cannot comprehend this simple elementary detail. My best friend and graphic designer for the center texted me "Weren't you guys supposed to have rehearsal?", after finding out the rappers we were working with were there waiting for us, I responded "I have no comment then." It's a situation where no explanation will be sufficient enough to explain how come 3/4ths of the band were not accounted for what was supposed to be a rehearsal.
We're going to do this show and we're going to be awesome. Why? Because we're talented musicians and we know how to work with what's given to us. I'm sorry, if we waited for the right moment to make moves, nothing would get done. Now granted, I would love to rehearse under better circumstances but until money is being made....actually no. Money being made will make the situation WORSE, even for Christians. But anyrate, I will let you know how the show turns out and how the actual rehearsal (not a practice session which is what today would have been had I shown up) goes.
