so a little story before i show you the reason why i am talking about it.
I grew up in hervey bay, we were one of the first families to move into this new estate called eli waters. they had grand plans to make it like all cool with golf courses and canals and stuff. so anyway me, my bro and lots of kids would go swimming in these canals and behind out house was this man made lake that was already there that all these canals linked into.
there was an island in the middle of this lake and every afternoon we would swim or paddle over (depending on the amount of water lillys and gunk in the water) and swing off the rope that was attached to the tree and have the best time ever. we would camp and have fires on this little island and it was seriously some of the best fun i had ever had. for our birthdays we would have our parties and tell all our friends to bring their togs to go swing on the rope.
over time we stopped going due to other hobbies and the fact that some crocs escaped from the "zoo" upstream(they got found) and also there were a couple of eels that would brush against us as we swam and kinda scared the shit out of us.
well anyway i got an email from my mum this morning of a story in the local newspaper:
A huge 2.7m pike eel was lurking in a canal behind Evelyn Pitt's grandmother's home.
Meet Eel-i monster

WHEN 20-YEAR-OLD Evelyn Pitt went out to put some crab pots in the water, little did she think she would come home with a nine-foot eel.
The 2.7m pike eel was lurking in a canal behind Evelyns grandmothers home in Bushlark Avenue, Eli Waters, a popular spot with swimmers.Link!
