ok, so..today started pretty bad, but it turned out amazing. i had to be at work at 8 this morning to unload a truck that had 125 pieces. of furniture. and some other stuff. sofas, loveseats, mattresses, entertainment centers, riding lawnmowers, etc. after we were done, paul (the guy i work with) and i, as we always do, sat down in the recliners to take a break. as we sat there, i overheard the other salespeople discussing how much business the store was doing and how if there was a third salesperson someone would be getting shorted with commissions. i was pretty sure that they knew i was sitting there and that i could hear them, but i didn't acknowledge it. it was something that had been bothering me a bit, though, since i got the offer in the first place. so after work, i asked the manager about the whole situation..whether or not i was going to be able to get my fair share of the sales. she basically told me that as long as i didn't sit on my ass watching my tv all day and actually went and talked to customers, i would be getting paid. handsomely. she even went so far as to say that i could wind up managing a store myself "one day". maybe it was just some sort of end-of-the-day pep talk or something, but it was still nice to hear from someone who was already managing a store herself. but anyway, i'm in a gret mood right now. all the above mentioned, plus i got my state income tax check today. and i got my car back.. one of my tires blew out the other day (i think i mentioned that) so i got two new ones put on. and no, they weren't both on the same side. smartasses. life is frickin good.
