How do you handle customer service?
Reason I ask is that I was in a situation this weekend that basically kept me from blowing up at anyone, no matter how wrong they were, I had to stand there, listen to people complain, scream and berate me and all I could say was "sir, I'm sorry for the delay, we're doing everything we can to take care of your concern and I appreciate your patience"
Now, that seems like a cover response, but this weekend in KC, I went from being brought in to announce a tournament to basically running the damned thing and saving the tournament's ass. It could have been a lot worse, but no one there knows, they just want something to complain about.
One thing that gets me is that wrestling tournaments bring out the worst in people, when it comes to their kids, they're going to lie and cheat right to your face to get what's good for their kid in an unsportsmanlike manner.
I'm basically a zombie right now, the whole point of the tournament was for mat time and things for the kids, but I got one hour of sleep the night before (leaving at 3:30 a.m., back to the hotel, and then a wake up to get back to the Expo Center at 5 a.m. .... then the next day, only got four hours).
Regardless, I'm not a people person in the way of dealing with screaming idiots, but damn, I do feel good that I didn't snap at the event, embarrass myself or the organization I was working for (a rather large athletic company) ...
But ugh, some way to fucking spend Easter, on planes and sleeping.
Happy fucking whatever....
P.S. -- props to my girl Taban for rocking out and getting back on the mat and feeling good in a first real return. What am I talking about ... no one reads my blog. LOL.
