I guess everyone has a little "geek" in them. I think we all have our quirks that stray from our normal realm of what we consider "our thing".
For example, I'm a sports writer in a very select specialty. Much of my world is surrounded by this. From what I wear, what I talk about with friends, what I think about on my own time. I took a hobby and turned it into a career. Now that being said, I will always have a place for Star Wars.
I know I'm not alone, but for what I'm involved with, I'm a Star Wars fan, not a fanatic, but I know enough about the series to do fair to midland in a trivia contest. No, I don't know anything beyond, or what is the Expanded Universe (random trip to Wikipedia filled me in on that line).
But when I was back around my old stomping grounds this weekend, "Episode 4" (I hate calling it A New Hope, hell, I hate calling it "Episode 4") came on and it froze me. Then, right after, The Empire Strikes Back ... my personal favorite. I get home today and I'm dog sitting for a buddy (in the snow) and Episode 3 is on. I'd only seen parts of it (surprisingly enough) and then watched it. Sure enough, Episode One came on if not right after.
So I've watched four Star Wars movies start to finish without renting them ... so that's my "geek vice" -- and I don't think there's a problem with it.
However, it's snowing and I hate snow. This freezing rain's even worse.
Random rant, over.
