A few years ago the powers that be at Suicide Girls decided to remove all of their bondage-themed images in the fear that they could be construed as "obscene", based on new Justice Department policies. When that decision was made I sent an email to the admins imploring that they take a stand on this issue. If Suicide Girls doesn't take a stand in arguing that (very) light bondage is not "obscene", then who will? Does SuicideGirls stands for nothing? Are they unwilling to advocate on behalf of their very bread and butter, not to mention taking a stand for their community?
Years later we have seen exactly zero prosecutions of the kind that Suicide Girls backed down without a fight to avoid. Much higher profile sights than SG still host bdsm pictures, and many thousands of smaller sites have much harder content. Nothing has happened.
History has proven their unprincipled capitulation unnecessary, and my email went unanswered.
Maybe it's time for those pictures to return?
