My brother scored tickets to the world premiere of "Borat" and invited me to go with him. I'm sure his fiance was not interested in going as she is from russia and actually has friends from Kazakhstan and doesn't believe that Borat acurately portrays kazakhstanians.
There were thousands and thhousands of people there. Sacha Baron Cohen arrived as Borat (riding in on a donkey) and stayed in character the entire night.
That's not my picture, I didn't think to bring my camera.
I was told by one of the people working the event that tickets were being scalped for $400-$500
Sadly the most we were offered while we were standing around outside before the show started was $150 each We soon wished we had taken it though...
About 15 minutes into the movie the projector died! None of the staff knew anything about projectors, but fortunately, Michael Moore used to be a projectionist before he started making movies, so he got up out of his seat and went into the projecttion room to try andd fix it.
Unfortunately, there wass a part that needed to be replaced. Michael more came down to the front of the theatre and explained this, addding that since we in canada and no one locks their doors here, he would just send a couple americans out looking for the part we needed and they would steal it and be back within the hour.
Sadly, they were unable to find the piece they were looking for and after an hour and a half of waiting they cancelled the screening. It was resceduled for midnight the next night, but I didn't feel like spending another day and night in toronto so I decided not to go. Still, it was a very interesting night.
