hi, friends! how the fuck are ya? i'm a bit hungover today. sometimes i get stuck in a really spaced out mindset the day after i drink. i was walking around old navy today and this funny black boy came to let me in the dressing room. he asked how i was and i said, "i'm good, how the hell are you?" without even realizing that i said it until he pointed it out. he got a kick out of it, but i think maybe i'd better keep my mouth shut for the rest of the day.
i'm skipping school. i went to my first class, but now i'm skipping the rest. i think rich is going to be mad at me, but i hope not. i also hope the skipping doesn't complicate my life.
so lately, i've been working at a preschool a lot and doing schoolwork and hanging out. i'm probably doing a little too much of the latter and it will probably only get worse as the weather grows more beautiful. i'm going to need to hustle to get the trillion papers and projects i need to write done. so far i have a four-oh and i don't want to lose it (hence the skipping).
i'm reading two books right now:
the first is *the clash of civilizations and the remaking of world order*. its a really excellent book. i have only read about fifty pages but so far the thing is awesome. i hemmed and hawed (sp?) over which book to pick the day i bought it at B&N, so i was really glad when dr.richmond, my modern russia prof, saw me carrying it and told me it was probably the most important book written since kennan's (who died last week) works on containment.
the second book is a book about poker betting strategies. so far that one is not as good as i thought it would be, but has been a little helpful. i really want to start playing in tournaments. lucky for me, i live right near turning stone casino, so i think i may go there rather than sub on monday and play in a tournament. maybe if i study hard, playing poker can be my job while im in grad school. and maybe if i start winning quickly i can buy a puppy!!!
speaking of grad school- i don't know what to go for! i'd love to continue on with history but i'm also thinking about maybe poli sci or international relations. i need to get cracking on those gre's.
this is the first weekend in months that rich and i have had nothing planned. i am ecstatic about this. i hope that the weather is beautiful...but i also hope i get some work done.
well, i guess that's it for now. time to go pay the electric bill!
