"I reserve my right to feel uncomfortable, reserve my right to be afraid.
I make mistakes and I am humbled, every step of the way.
I want to be a better person, I wanna know the master plan.
Cast your stones, cast your judgement, you don't make me who I am."
From the song Sometimes You're the Hammer, Sometimes You're the Nail by A Day to Remember.
A Day to Remember has always been one of my favorites, from the time I started caring about music. Their lyrics are always raw, honest, and powerful. I like this bit especially because it's saying "Don't you dare judge me for being human and figuring my shit out. I am terrified but you don't know who I am or what I've been through, and you don't get to determine where I'll end up."
I've always been a believer in second chances and the power of self-betterment. No one is perfect, we are all raw and fucked up and there is no right way to be. We are all traveling our own rocky paths while trying to heal and improve. Everyone's path is different and there's no room to judge how someone walks it. We all will inevitably fuck up from time to time and there needs to be more room for understanding that. Ultimately, working towards being better and healing from what you've been through is the goal.
