Finally, after a month of what seemed like pure chaos, things are starting to slow down. I have been so busy with everything it seems. I had tons of presentations, research papers, various projects and tests due this month. And not to mention getting ready for Fragile Ambition (which was Saturday). Maybe now, I'll get some time to relax and take some time off from everything.
This past weekend helped alot in relieving the stress. It was a time to cut loose and have some fun. Friday night, Devin and Vanessa showed up at my house around 11pm. Just before midnight, we made our way to Coasters. There I ran into Mike and met his friend TJ. Nik Flagstar and Diagaku were playing which meant that Nik, Isaac, Katie, and their whole crowd was there. I also met Vanessa's friend Duane and some random guy wearing a red shirt who was sitting next to me at the bar for a while.
Mike kept buying me this drink called Red Snapper.. and on top of all the Newcastle I was drinking, I was getting quite intoxicated fairly quickly. I'm not sure what time we decided to leave but somewhere along the line I had decided to go walk on the beach behind the bar and ended up losing my favorite pair of Cons. So, I stumbled back to the bar barefoot. I stole Vanessa's flip flops from her and we left the bar. The original plan was to go to Nik's house. But after stopping by and realizing nothing much was going on, we ended up saying fuck it and got a hotel on the Island. Finally after lots of giggling and talks about glittery roosters, snakes, and whatever else happened to come to mind, we went to sleep around 7am.
Danny wanted us to be at the American Legion at 10am. We didn't even wake up until 1130am. By the time I got in the shower and we got dressed and ready to go, it was about noon-thirty. We needed to stop by Nik's so I could get my backpack that I had left over there (this required Vanessa breaking into their house because Nik wasn't home and Derek was asleep). Then we headed over to Winn-Dixie to find me some flip flops. Flip flops were no where to be found in the store, so Devin and Vanessa bought some fatty ribs while I went over and bought some flip flops from Big Lots.
By the time we got to the Fragile Ambition Music and Art Festival, it was a quarter to two (which is when the doors opened). We quickly found a table and set up our artwork. Then we preceded to mingle. As we were walking toward the back door, we ran into Ellie and Scott. It was really great seeing them. Ellie looked beautiful and poor Scott's hearing aid had fallen apart. So, he was temporarily deaf until Ellie turned into MacGyver and fixed it using a potato, a ball-point pen, some silly putty, and a chicken.
For most of the festival, we hung out outside. We pulled out some chairs and made a circle and kicked back and talked, watched Devin do some amazing David Blaine style card tricks (very very impressive), and just had a good time. A ton of people showed up. When a good band would come on, we'd go inside, watch, sing along, and dance around. The Squelch Militia was definately something interesting to watch. Nik Flagstar and the Panhandle Pair, Daigaku, and Vis Vires all sounded great and put on a good show. Oh and not to mention, there was alot of great artwork there as well. I loved Danny's pieces and Ellie's as well.
After the festival, we all headed over to Coasters for the after party. Derek's band The Merchants were playing and I really loved them (so did Devin). They were very funky and bluesy. I would love to see them play again soon. Definately my kinda tunes. Danny found us shortly after we came in, and talked for a little bit and bought us a pitcher of Newcastle. So, that was really cool. I like hanging out with him. And then, Jenni showed up and it was fun hanging out with her too.
After The Merchants set, we headed over to Nik's house. Nik, Willy, Isaac, Katie, Jenni, Devin, Vanessa, myself, and several other people who I didn't know were all sitting around Nik's living room drinking and telling stories. It was fun. However, Vanessa and I started dozing off. So we went in Nik's room, crawled into his bed, and passed out. Sometime around 4 or 5am, everyone had left so Nik woke us up and we migrated to the couch and loveseat. We woke up around 11am and headed home.
Although I had a blast and really enjoyed seeing everyone, I was ecstatic to finally be home. I've been trying to recover from the weekend ever since. I think I'm almost back to normal now. I do have an exam tomorrow and the remaining four on tuesday. Then after that, I will finally be finished with this semester. Wooh!
