I once read a silly little theory about the source of every single great idea. The writer, a rather brilliant satirist, postulated that all great moments of inspiration, those quintessential eurekas!, are the result of a happy little collision between a sentient consciousness and a uniquely useful idea. The thing is that the Big Idea actually has a physical construct.
The theory is that the Big Idea is actually a subatomic atomic particle of genius and, just like other bits of energy, travels across the universe until it collides with a receptive brain that may just be trying to figure out some complex problem. In other words, every great moment of cogitative reasoning can be traced to the moment where this teensy, photon-like particle of applicable truth has defied the odds, crossed the universe, and pierced a beings cranium just as it was wondering something like I wonder if theres an easier way to push this box of rocks along the ground? From this collision explodes a tiny super nova of insight that leads to a great solution, and voila! I give you the wheel. Just like a seed that requires deep soil, these little particles understand the receivers purpose and gestate into an intellectual tree of profound height, depth, and breadth that benefits human kind in any manner of ways.
These brilliant little bits of clarity are what brought us hairless monkeys out of the dark ages. We have much to thank the little photon-like buggers for; zinging around the universe, just waiting to run into some conscious sack of meat who will, hopefully, be a proper match in order to make great things happen. In addition to the wheel, from these momentous and fortuitous cosmic trick shots come metallurgy, astronomy, the printing press, pasteurization, ABBA, whiskey, the Mona Lisa, the Kama Sutra, and all other great human achievements. Then again, sometimes something gets in the way.
The catch is, in case you weren't aware, that the universe is really, really big, and the distances between us are vast. Hitting a target over such spans is not easy, but consider also that every single thing is constantly in motion. Further complicating matters is that, contrary to what looks like empty chasms surrounding all of us, there is an awful lot of other stuff flying around that tends to get in the way. Somehow, through all this chaos, the little particle of perfect thought must make its way to the right mind, at the proper time; else it ends up implanted in some entity wherein it is entirely useless.
Think of it. There are answers to the mysteries of concerns like finding cheap, clean, and renewable energy. There is such thing as a cure for the common cold. We actually can find an equitable economic system that transcends political ideology and benefits those in each economic tier. The Kama Sutra is only the first volume of a vast encyclopedia of human sensuality. The problem is that the odds of these inspiration particles missing their target are greater than hitting it. Chaos is chaos, after all, and has no preference for humanity over any other thing.
Then again, occasionally that little particle of inspiration and insight defies the odds and smacks someone right between the eyes, resulting in the afore-mentioned "Eureka!" moment. Think of Sir Isaac Newton taking a rest underneath the apple tree. Trying to figure out why shit bounces off other shit and to what extent, he planted his ass at just the right time so that a genius particle, upon zinging toward the tree, ricocheted off an apple and collided with his brain a split second before he observed the fruit fall and hit the ground, thus inspiring one of the most important scientific breakthroughs in human history. This scenario took place in a split second, and if anything had gone awry, the Three Laws of Motion could have resided in the brain of a 17th century squirrel with no interest in advanced physics. The odds are simply too great for me to describe. Sir Isaac probably could have, but then, he was the genius, not me.
So lately I've been wondering if other types of particles exist as well. For instance, what about love? On one hand, it is not so difficult to open your heart to the world, but to find someone who returns it back to you, at just the right frequency, seems pretty far-fetched. Think of it: that tiny Cupid's arrow has to defy distance, any number of obstacles, and then time its impact with a moving target (in this case the human heart) perfectly. Adding even more complexity, is that the shot must somehow then be reflected by the heart (assuming it is capable to begin with), overcome more distance, obstacles, and motion, and then hit the other heart at just the right time as well. Holy shit! It is amazing that anyone ever manages to share a lasting love at all.
I know, it really is a silly idea, but maybe I'm on to something. I'm not sure about the little theory about the particles, its just a metaphor, but I do know that life is short and the odds of finding the "one" who is just right for you, and vice versa, are very long. If you happen to hit the winning celestial lotto numbers, I advise you to not take it for granted! Be patient, for even though it can last forever, it should never be rushed. Treasure it, but don't lock it away. Give it room to grow, but don't neglect it. Protect it, but don't smother. Support it, but remember that it has its own legs to stand on. Trust it.
A partnership is based off of these things and more, but more than anything else, remember to be grateful. Just be grateful.
Oy! Now I am just getting sappy.

A theory about particulate matter creating the "spark" that creates all important advancements....provable.
Interesting to think about, although, that is quite far from the "destined" belief most hold, that everything happens for a reason, and those meant to be blessed with such ideas, were always going to have them, irregardless.
And if they did not, some other great mind with the same reasoning and logic would come up with it.
..that everything comes to fruition one way or another, because it is "meant to be"
It would seem a lot of Medieval advancements/ideas "sprouted" up around the globe all in the same time frame...
As if there is some sort of "global consciousness"
Like certain ancient weapons, tools, and materials all being found oceans apart, all being utilized, and commencing in the same time periods...that fact always amused me greatly.
Another interesting cosmic, penetrating, and proven particle to look into is the Neutrino. Quite interesting, this little guy comes from an unfathomable distance away, and rains down over us at all times, and it actually penetrates every substance, regardless of density!
They are now using it in the military to "scan" engines, or like things at check points/borders to see hidden stuffs, as well, they are using it to penetrate far into the ground to better determine volcanic activity, and to lengthen warning time.
I love the idea of "space junk" raining through my body at all times...deliciously violating!!
Well, you got me, I do have to learn to "calm the fuck down" and stop buzzing around with 100 thoughts in my head at all times, with a list of 101 to do's alongside it, and appreciate my significant other.
I tend to lash, and lecture him for not keeping up, reacting fast enough, not processing information quickly, or efficiently enough....
sheesh...I need to be more grateful, indeed.
I am not really a beliver in any sort of Divine intelligence, and I really doubt that anyone "has a plan for me". I'd like to believe in that, but I can't. Ah, well....I do believe in Love. My heart is healing nicely, and I am optimistic about future possibilities.
As for your points, I don't think a "global conciousness" and chaotic blind luck are mutually exclusive. During the Dark Ages there were plenty of great ideas, but forces like The Church and various monarchies had a stranglehold on knowledge and power for centuries, and any poor bastard who challenged it was burnt at the stake, or worse. I think the Renaissance came about as the Church weakened and bright people became emboldened, but if mass conciousness is a part of that, I'm cool. :-)
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
I am grateful.
