So I finally went out to a decent party last night (not that there aren't A LOT of decent parties over here). i have just been busy settling in. it has been a month now though, which is kinda crazy since i might be here for just 2 more. i new it would fly by, but this is weird. maybe now that i'm pretty settled i'll accomplish a lot more and even if it does feel like a month, i will at least have accomplished something. Just getting all your cleaning supplies and kitchen stuff is really expensive (well for my poor ass) and time consuming. I did really well with the kitchen stuff. I got a good range of pots and pans and dishes for about $60 from thrift stores and target. target has some great stuff for CHEAP! I bought a pretty nice toaster oven froma thrift store too for $15, and my tv from there too for $30. that place rocks.
the other night i got a blender from this really nice couple through freecycle. check it out if you don't know about it. it's a great way to keep stuff out of landfills and get free shit! so i'm enjoying a lovely smoothie right now. my friend and i bought a buttload of fruit last week, chopped it up and split it for making smoothies. she's really healthy, which is great because i'm trying to start being healthy. and it turns out i like dates. what'dya know. anyway i still haven't made it to the beach yet, so i am gonna go.
here are a couple pics first though, as promised. this is the most awesome evidence i've seen remaining of hurricane wilma, three months later or something.
and this is a shot of miami beach from across the causeway where i stayed when i first got here.
