So, i ended watching the last Harry Potter (no spoilers in here). It was pretty good, as was the whole story. But i am left with a couple of questions. Maybe the answers were there but i missed them or have forgotten.
1) Why couldn't/didn't Voldemort kill him as a child? Did they say it was cos his mother sacrificed herself out of love, or some such thing?
2) And why was Voldemort trying to kill him (and his parents) in the first place?

2) due to a misheard prophecy in order of the phoenix
