So I was stood up on Tuesday.
Not-date it is.
Without even a phone call, I was left waiting at Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe in Emeryville for 45 minutes, assuring the waiter that I had somebody coming. I threw in the towel with a "It appears that I have been stood up!" to which the waiter says, "yes!"
I called three times, it may seem excessive, but hear me out:
1st - I called to let her know I was on the way, and I gave her the address.
2nd - I call again when she was twenty minutes late.
3rd - I call to let her know I'm leaving the Cafe.
All three times ring out to VM with a message left every time, and she has yet to get back to me. I'm not expecting her to.
I'm taking it quite okay, I feel like a parent, I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. I just really thought that I turned a corner when it comes to dating, and maybe karma was finally paying me back for 22 years of self-imposed, celibacy by default. I guess not.
Still waiting on that first date, I suppose.
