Holy hell! It's been almost a month since I last posted??? Where in the world has this year run off too??!!
Since have been relatively sane lately. My Dad is not doing too badly at the moment. Unfortunately, I am going to have to keep him in a Nursing home for what's left of his life. We are bringing in Hospice to help with his care, so his last months should be relatively comfortable. I am trying to bring him alot of his favorite things to make him feel better. Today, I made my own Minestrone soup, and threw together an easy Greek salad. Toss in a couple of sugar free Tastycake snacks, he was a happy camper!
Tomorrow, while I'm working, my wife is going to bring him some pizza, and watch the Redskins game with him.
Through all of this, my Mom has held up fairly well. I have been slowly preparing her for life without my Dad. My wife and I bought her a new walker, and a transport wheelchair. I have also set up her bank account online, and she can take advantage of electronic bill pay. She and my Dad have had their pensions direct deposited for a long time. Alot less for my Mom to worry about. I also have someone come by every two weeks to clean their place.
Based on his recent doctor's visits and his prehab progress, the general consensus of everyone concerned is that My Dad may not make it through the holidays. So I am going to make sure that any he makes it to, will be his best ever. That's all for now. I hope everyone is doing well. Seeya soon!
