Today's Tarot card is:
The Searcher (aka The Hermit). "The figure is crouched, looking forward, using a staff to lead, and a lantern to light the way. Upright: Dissatisfaction with the present and a search for the answers in the future. The lantern that is carried is Mercury; it lights the way through communication not only for himself, but for all who follow. Keep searching because the answers are there."
This is more than appropriate, as I'm a Virgo which is ruled by Mercury, and a bit of a hermit and a searcher as well. More and more I'm impressed with how the cards seem to hit the nail on the head for me. I don't believe in them in a carved-in-stone way; they serve more as a guidepost and a reference point. I'm impressed.
OK, it's Journal Poetry Day (which I completely sloughed off on last week, dammit!). Here is something by Diane DiPrima from "Loba":
SHE WHO
she whose face we have never seen
she whose body is door to the world
she whose black thighs gleam w/ oil
w/ fat & blood
she whose laughter is the earthquake
she whose inhalation is the end of time
who can compass her round w/ his arms?
who can penetrate to the depth of her desire?
stars are the seed pearls she sets on her flesh
they are the milk of her breasts & the juice of her love
her orgasm shakes the dark worlds to their depths
the lord of the dead stirs uneasy on his throne
he is one of the teeth of her mouth
her daughters stream w/ flaming hair from the portals of hell
they are the goddesses we can name, we name them Nut
we name them Kali & Olokun, Omphale & Mara
it is at their hands that the gods of men receive power
