I guess I've been living under rocks all these days. In the past week I learned that the reason for the Read Across America's event date was none than Dr. Seuss. I haven't paid much attention before, for one, I've been away from newspapers and news during this time of year, and for two, deployments do take some of the attention away from other, well-meaning events.
So, I'll be putting on a Cat-in-the-Hat hat on on Wednesday to help celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and the joy of reading. I hope that it goes well, as I do feel nervous about meeting a lot of people outside my comfort zone (celebrities). I said that at work, and people laughed. Maybe I'm more outgoing than I realize.
On a work related note, I hope that my application to one of the two editing positions I applied for comes through. It is something I love to do, and I think it'll make my time at the 'Zon better.
Bonne chance.
